Client: Long Lee Primary School
Principal Contractor: RH Fulwood & Co Ltd.
Scope Of Works: Groundworks, Paving & MUGA
Works Completed: October 2014
Long Lee Primary School in Keighley is a state funded school situated in a mainly rural location. With growing demand for primary school places in the local area, the school was looking to increase the size of the school through an extension. In addition, the school also wished to introduce a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) to the outdoor playground area. Finally, there was a requirement for 180m2 of external paving work and a 220 metre long new access path.
YPP Groundworks was invited to tender for the project by R.H. Fullwood & Co. Ltd. after we had been subcontracted by the same company to undertake work at Knowles Wood Primary School in Bradford. We were asked to provide a quote to install the MUGA and access path, provide foundations for the double storey classroom extension, undertake all drainage amendments and drainage runs and to complete the external paving work. YPP Groundworks were successful in our tender and commenced work on the project in January 2014.
The scope of YPP Groundworks’ work consisted of:
- Reinforced extension foundations
- Installed reinforced ground floor slab with RADON protection
- Installed reinforced concrete slab to first floor
- Excavation and formation, including edge restraints, of 380m2 MUGA
- MUGA Tarmac finish
- Associated underground drainage
- 220 linear metre resin bonded finish access path
- In situ concrete steps leading down to new footpath
- 180m2 external paving
Whilst the majority of our work was completed in early 2014, we returned to the job in October 2014 once the whole project was nearing completion to finish off our contracted work. The project was fully completed on time in October 2014, allowing the new extension to open as scheduled.
